TurboJ
TurboJ is a high performance Java byte code compiler
resulting from advanced development efforts carried
out by the Java R&D Program at The Open Group Research Institute.
Its main features are:
- It supports the Program Once, Run Everywhere paradigm that
is making Java successful. TurboJ does not require source code. It takes
byte code as input, as it is distributed on the net, and translates the
byte code in faster native code that can be loaded by the Java runtime.
-
It supports mixed mode of interpreted and compile code
-
It is an optimizing compiler
-
It does not require its own runtime. It supports the platform runtime,
as long as it is compliant to Java native specifications.
-
It fully supports Java 1.1 programming interfaces, including windowing.
